Film director Clarence Brown (1890-1987) began as assistant to French-born director Maurice Tourneau. By 1920, he was given co-director credits on Last of the Mohicans. Soloing by mid-decade, he directed some of the silent eras best dramas, including Valentino's The Eagle (1926). He was a favorite director of Greta Garbo, directing her first talkie, Anna Christie (1930). After Brown retired in 1952, he refused to watch new films, fearing that these might lure him back to work. Pinholes and related wear in corners. Surface scratches. Pinhead sized chips in forehead.
